Haiku: After midnight

Tonight, I bury a wing, a once starlit thing--

After Midnight

What dreams may teach me:
Glass slippers break easily,
Leaving only shards.

And yet . . . Cinderella's next step after midnight, when the ball and all her gossamer glories were completely undone, that step was the most important. Barefoot in the dark, she made her choice to go on.

"In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?"
                                                                                              -Rainer Maria Rilke
I must.

    1. Thank you! I would love to talk. We ink scribblers should cross quills more often.
